I’d Be Unemployed Without Music – Ayra Starr Opens Up About Life Before Fame

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has shared how music changed her life. The award-winning artist said she would likely be unemployed if she had not pursued a music career.

The Mavin Records star made the revelation during an interview with culture and style platform EE72 ahead of her Boiler Room performance.

Ayra Starr admitted that she cannot imagine where she would be without music.

According to the singer, she would probably not become a content creator because of the effort involved. Instead, she joked that she would be relaxing at home and enjoying meals prepared by her mother.

She said:

“If I were not doing music, I would literally be unemployed. I do not even think I would be a content creator. That would be a lot of work. I would just be vibing in my mother’s house, eating my mother’s food.”

Furthermore, the singer explained that music gave her purpose and direction at a young age.

Ayra Starr also recalled the moment she discovered that Don Jazzy and the Mavin Records team were listening to her songs.

The revelation made her extremely happy. She described it as one of the most exciting moments of her early career.

According to her, knowing that a respected music executive had noticed her talent gave her confidence.

She said:

“I was so excited when I found out they were listening to my music. You know who it is.”

However, Ayra Starr admitted that fame has not been easy.

The singer revealed that she often shares too much information during interviews. As a result, she sometimes wishes the public knew less about her personal life.

She explained that she becomes very talkative whenever cameras start rolling.
