Lagos School Attack Threat: Police Dismiss Bandit Kidnap Rumours

The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents that there is no credible intelligence suggesting an imminent attack on schools in the state, following the circulation of a threat notice alleging that bandits planned to abduct schoolchildren.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi, urged parents, guardians, school authorities and residents to remain calm, emphasizing that security agencies have not confirmed any threat targeting schools in Lagos.

According to the command, the notice currently circulating on social media and other platforms has been taken seriously and subjected to security assessment. However, investigations have not revealed any verified information indicating an impending attack.

Lagos School Attack Threat Prompts Increased Security Measures

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has directed an immediate review of the situation and ordered enhanced security deployment around schools and other strategic locations across the state.

The command disclosed that police operatives, working alongside other security agencies, have been mobilized to strengthen security around educational institutions, critical infrastructure and residential communities.

Authorities stressed that Lagos remains safe and secure, assuring residents that proactive steps are being taken to prevent criminal activities and protect public safety.

The police also warned that anyone attempting to spread fear, disrupt public peace or engage in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.

Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities, movements or individuals within their communities.

The command reiterated that effective policing relies on cooperation between security agencies and members of the public.
