The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have strengthened their partnership through a specialized EFCC DSS training programme aimed at improving surveillance and intelligence gathering in Lagos.
The training was organized by the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 on Friday, June 19, 2026. It forms part of ongoing efforts to improve investigative capacity and promote intelligence-led operations in the fight against economic and financial crimes.
Furthermore, the initiative highlights the commitment of both agencies to capacity building, knowledge sharing, and stronger collaboration among security institutions.
EFCC DSS Training Focuses on Capacity Building
Speaking during the programme, the acting Zonal Director of Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, ACE 1 Adeniyi Adebayo, emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for law enforcement officers.
Represented by DCE Ayo Oyewole, Head of Public Affairs, Adebayo said regular training remains essential for helping officers adapt to emerging security challenges.
According to him, learning should be viewed as a continuous process rather than a one-time exercise.
He noted that ongoing training equips officers with the knowledge, confidence, and adaptability required to perform effectively in a rapidly changing operational environment.

One of the highlights of the EFCC DSS training was a presentation delivered by Deputy Director of Internal Security, Base Command Lagos, Rasheed Akanji.

Furthermore, Shehu emphasized that joint training programmes help security and law enforcement agencies learn from one another and leverage their collective strengths.
