The Bauchi State Police Command has proven once again that there is no hiding place for criminals. Police operatives have successfully recovered a stolen black Honda (2000 model) and arrested three men involved in the theft and illegal sale of the vehicle.
The story began back in March 2026, when a 53-year-old resident of Danjuma Goje Street in Bauchi reported that his car had been stolen. Although the theft happened months ago, the victim officially alerted the police on June 8, 2026. Taking swift action, the ‘A’ Division Township operatives launched an investigation that led them straight to Gombe Road, where the car was finally found.
This arrest highlights a major issue many Nigerians face: the “second-hand” market trap. Two of the suspects arrested were not the original thieves but the people who bought the stolen car. The suspects have been identified as 58-year-old Sani Saidu (the first buyer), 54-year-old Shuaibu Fagarau (the second buyer), and 46-year-old Samaila Abdullahi.
In Nigeria, it is common to look for “fairly used” deals to save money, but this case serves as a loud warning. If you buy a vehicle without proper documentation or from an unreliable source, you might end up in a police cell.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised his team for their hard work. Interestingly, this is the third stolen vehicle the division has recovered in just one month!
The police are now urging all car owners to be “street smart” by installing tracking devices and keeping their vehicle papers safe. These small steps make it much easier for the authorities to help you if the unthinkable happens.
The three suspects are currently in custody and will face the law once investigations are over.
