The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has said that only God can ultimately end insecurity in Nigeria.
The former Zamfara State governor made the statement while addressing the growing concerns over banditry, terrorism, kidnappings, and other security threats across the country.
Furthermore, he called on Nigerians to support security agencies and avoid politicising security challenges.
Matawalle Speaks on Insecurity in Nigeria
Matawalle acknowledged that insecurity remains one of Nigeria’s biggest challenges. According to him, the fight against criminal activities requires the cooperation of both citizens and security agencies.
He stressed that insecurity affects everyone regardless of political affiliation, religion, or ethnic background.
Therefore, he urged Nigerians to work together to restore peace and stability across the country.
The minister also encouraged citizens to continue praying for the nation while supporting ongoing security operations.
Minister Warns Against Politicising Security Issues
During the interview, Matawalle criticised politicians who use security challenges to score political points.
According to him, some opposition figures focus more on attacking the government than supporting efforts to tackle insecurity.
He argued that insecurity should not be used as a political weapon because it affects all Nigerians.
Moreover, he said no responsible citizen should be happy about the rising cases of killings, kidnappings, and attacks across different communities.
The minister maintained that national security requires unity rather than political division.

Security Agencies Continue Operations
Matawalle stated that security agencies are working tirelessly to combat terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers.
Meanwhile, military authorities have repeatedly explained that modern security threats have become more complex in recent years.
As a result, security forces face multiple challenges while trying to protect lives and property.
Nevertheless, the government insists that efforts are ongoing to improve security operations and reduce criminal activities nationwide.
Recent Security Incidents Raise Concerns
The minister’s comments come amid renewed attacks in several parts of Nigeria.
Recently, armed bandits reportedly attacked a community in Niger State, killing residents and destroying homes.
In another incident, gunmen kidnapped a traditional ruler in Ondo State and injured his wife during the attack.
These incidents have increased calls for stronger action against criminal groups operating across the country.
Consequently, many Nigerians continue to demand lasting solutions to the security crisis.
Conclusion
Matawalle believes that ending insecurity in Nigeria requires collective effort, continuous support for security agencies, and divine intervention.
While security operatives continue their operations, the minister has urged citizens and political leaders to unite against insecurity rather than use it for political gain.
