Nigerian singer Davido is in the news for a very bold move. At a big FIFA concert in Los Angeles, he spoke up for kidnapped Nigerians. However, this has led to a heated disagreement with Reno Omokri.
A Global Message
During his performance, Davido wore a special black jacket. It had the names of 39 students and seven teachers kidnapped in Oyo State.
On the back, it said “Bring Them Home.” Davido used his platform to make sure the world does not forget these victims. He wanted to show solidarity with the families back home in Nigeria.
Reno Omokri’s Warning
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, did not agree with Davido. He said that giving kidnappers this much attention is a “big mistake.”
Reno argued that publicity only makes terrorists feel powerful. He believes that making the victims famous makes them more “valuable” to the kidnappers. This, he says, makes it harder for the government to rescue them.
Davido Stands His Ground
Davido did not reply to Reno with words. Instead, he posted more photos of himself in the jacket.
He shared the images on his social media with the caption “BRING THEM HOME” in big letters. It was a clear sign that he does not care about the criticism. He is determined to keep the pressure on.
The Nigerian Perspective: Does Noise Help?
In Nigeria, we often argue about whether “making noise” on social media helps or hurts.
Many Nigerians believe that if celebrities like Davido don’t speak, the government might move slowly. Others agree with Reno and worry about the safety of the kids. In the end, every Nigerian just wants to see the children and teachers return home safely.
