Popular Nigerian actress BamBam recently faced a very stressful situation in Lagos. She attended the service of songs held for late actor Alexx Ekubo. While many gathered to honor the dead, some criminals had other plans.
Thieves Strike During the Service
BamBam realized her phone was missing only after she got into her car to leave. She initially thought her personal assistant had the device. Sadly, she soon discovered that thieves had stolen it during the event.
The actress was not the only victim that night. She revealed that at least five other people lost their phones too. Shockingly, one of the victims was actually the brother of the late Alexx Ekubo.
Lost Memories and Missing Backups
The loss is especially painful for BamBam because of her data. She told her fans that she had many important videos and photos on the phone. Because she had not updated her iCloud recently, most of those memories are not backed up.
In Nigeria, we often say that “respect for the dead” is a core value. BamBam expressed her sadness that anyone would choose a solemn funeral service as a place to rob people.
Clearing Her Assistant’s Name
Following the incident, a video surfaced online. It showed BamBam’s personal assistant (PA) taking a phone out of the actress’s bag. This caused many people to accuse the assistant of being the thief.
However, BamBam has come out to defend her staff. She explained that the video was recorded before they entered the venue. Her PA was simply holding the phone for her at that time. She urged the public to stop “dragging” her assistant, as the theft happened much later in the evening.
