Popular social media influencer and relationship expert, Blessing CEO (real name Blessing Nkiruka Okoro), is back in the news, and this time, it isn’t for her controversial dating advice.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, a Federal High Court in Lagos granted her bail to the tune of ₦10 million with two sureties. While this should have been good news for her, a surprising twist of events saw her being hauled off to a regular prison (correctional center) instead of the more “comfortable” EFCC custody.
The “No Vacancy” Twist
During the court proceedings, Blessing’s lawyer, Nneka Nkama, pleaded with the court to allow her client to stay with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while they worked on perfecting her bail conditions.
However, the EFCC lawyer, Suleiman Suleiman, blocked the move. He told the judge plainly that the EFCC facilities were already full and they had no space to keep her. With no other choice, Justice D.I. Dipeolu ordered that she be remanded in a correctional facility until she meets her bail requirements.
Why is she in trouble?
Blessing CEO is facing a two-count charge involving “obtaining money by false pretense”—what many Nigerians commonly call “419” or scamming. She is accused of collecting ₦36 million from a woman named Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, under the guise of helping her rent a posh six-bedroom duplex in the Lekki area of Lagos.
Her legal team claims they are already settling the matter out of court. So far, they say ₦24 million has been paid back to the complainant, who has reportedly agreed to drop the charges once the full balance is cleared. However, since the EFCC is already involved, the trial must follow its legal course.
The Nigerian Perspective
For a “Lekki Big Girl” and celebrity who often flaunts a luxury lifestyle on Instagram, being sent to a regular Nigerian prison is a huge reality check. This case serves as a reminder to many social media users that the law eventually catches up with “influencing” when it crosses the line into financial disputes.
Blessing CEO has had her fair share of drama lately—from a controversial cancer claim that brought in ₦13 million in donations to her viral “house” scandals. Now, she will have to spend some time behind bars until her next court date on June 22, 2026, or until her team can raise the ₦10 million bail.
